A bill that looks likely to pass is on the fast-track. This ‘grandmothering’ bill would allow small employers to keep their current group medical insurance plans.
Some employers were familiar with the term ‘grandfathering ‘ in reference to their pre-ACA group medical insurance plans. Post-ACA, carriers eliminated many of their plans and created new plan portfolios to meet the Post-ACA medical insurance plan requirements. As many employers are well-aware, these new plans meet the benefit requirements but often come with a hefty premium increase. Due to the severe renewal increases for small employers, 30% even up to 70%, a new bill is on the fast-track that may allow small employers to keep their existing plans.
